The conservation area boundary follows most of Church Lane only extending away from the road to take in a number of listed buildings. The conservation area also extends to the east of Town Lane and High Street. The conservation area covers a total area of 5.40 hectares.
The conservation area is predominantly residential but also contains a number of commercial properties.
The conservation area contains 5 listed buildings including the Grade I listed St Mary’s Church (c.1300, early C14, late C14, C15, 1767, chancel rebuilt 1848 by Stephen Lavin.)
