The conservation area incorporates most of the built village of Bolingbroke (including the site of Bolingbroke Castle) except for King’s Court and all properties to the south of King’s Court on the west side of Hagnaby Road. The conservation area is 33.77 hectares in size.
The conservation area is predominantly residential.
The conservation area contains 9 listed buildings and the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Bolingbroke Castle. All of the listed buildings are Grade II except for St Peter and St Paul's church and churchyard (c.1360, possibly for John of Gaunt. Partly destroyed in the Civil War, restored 1866 by James Fowler of Louth, and again in 1889) which is Grade II*.
