The conservation area is linear in form and encompasses those properties that abut High Street and also a few properties on Eagle Road up to Eyres Lane. The conservation area covers a total of 3.28 hectares.

The conservation area is predominantly residential.

The conservation area contains 8 listed buildings including the Grade I listed All Saints Church (12C, 13C, 15C and 19C. Restored by Sir Ninian Couper 1895-8). It also contains 1 unlisted building of local importance.
