The conservation area encompasses most of the properties that abut Main Street and is therefore linear in form. Most of the built village is included in the conservation area except for properties to the west of Timberland Road and to the east of Fletcher’s Way. The conservation area also extends north up Mill Lane to include the former primitive Methodist chapel. The conservation area covers an area of 5.13 hectares.
The conservation area is primarily residential but also contains a number of current former agricultural properties.
There are 3 Grade II listed buildings and 3 unlisted buildings of local importance within the conservation area.
