The conservation area occupies an area of 77.16 hectares. The boundary extends from Church Lane in the north to St Marys Street in the south. The easterly boundary closely follows the A15 and includes small sections of adjoining roads to the east of the A15. The boundary to the west extends as far as Orchard Street, Victoria Street and Union Road.
There area 312 listed buildings within the conservation area including Lincoln Cathedral (I) and its associated buildings. There are also 5 buildings of local importance. Lincoln Castle, a Scheduled Monument, is also included within the conservation area boundary.
