The conservation area boundary includes the village and its surrounding parkland. It extends southwards down Middle Street to incorporate the park boundary wall. It occupies an area of 36 hectares. Many of the buildings in Burton survive from the period when it was an estate village.
There are 15 listed buildings within the conservation area including the Church of St Vincent (II*). There are also 17 buildings of local importance.
