The conservation area is linear in form and runs north-south and includes Gauntlet Road, Church Road, High Street, School Lane, Morley Lane and Red Lion Street. The conservation area covers a total of 6.78 hectares.
The conservation area is predominantly residential.
There are 6 listed buildings in the conservation area; all of them are Grade II listed buildings except for St Swithin’s Church (dating back to the early 12th century) which is Grade I.
