The conservation area is focussed on or around West Street, South Street and East Street. At the heart of the conservation area lays the market place and Parish Church. The conservation area covers a total of 19.31 hectares.
The conservation area is primarily residential but with a number of commercial properties especially around the market place and along West Street and South Street.
The conservation area contains a total of 48 listed buildings and 9 unlisted buildings. Out of these 2 are Grade II* (The Manor House and Hanby Hall) while 2 are Grade I (the Church of St Wilfrid and the Windmill).
