The conservation area covers the whole of the built village of Witham-on-the-Hill (including the grounds of Witham Hall) except for a single property to the east of ‘Cleeve Hill’. The conservation area contains a high proportion of green space compared to the number of properties located there. The conservation area covers a total of 35.18 hectares.
The conservation area is primarily residential.
There are 11 Grade II listed buildings and 1 Grade I listed building (Church of St Andrew – dating back to the late 12th century).
