The conservation area covers a total of 18.47 hectares, and takes in the village’s historic core around Main Road, High Street, Church Hill, Manor Road and Oak Hill.
The conservation area is primarily residential.
The conservation area contains 13 Grade II listed buildings as well as 1 Grade II* (St John the Evangelist's church - C13, C14, C15. Restored 1859 by Sir G G Scott and 1861-2 by Scott and Goddard.)
