The conservation area is linear in form and runs north-south from Far Lane/Viking Close in the north and Tinkers Lane in the south. The western extent of the conservation area is Hilltop. To the east of High Street the conservation incorporates St Michael Close, Mayall Court and Bar Lane. The conservation area covers a total of 15.58 hectares.
The conservation area is predominantly residential but also contains a number of commercial properties.
The conservation area contains 8 Grade II listed buildings and 3 unlisted buildings of local importance.
