The Skillington conservation area encompasses most of the current village except for a small number of late 20th century properties to the south ends of Buckminster Lane and Stonepit Lane. The conservation area also includes a number of green spaces off Church Street and either side of the junction of Lord’s Lane and Middle Street. The conservation area covers a total of 15.32 hectares.
The conservation area is primarily residential with a small number of current and former agricultural buildings.
There are 12 Grade II listed buildings and 1 Grade I – the Church of St James (dating back to the 11th century).
