Fleet

The conservation area boundary runs south down the east side of Hazlewood Lane and Bensgate before following the southern border of the grounds of the Old Rectory. It then turns south, taking in Walnut Cottage, before moving north taking in all of the properties to the east of Hall Gate and East Gate (except for the 3 most southerly properties). The boundary then turns west to take in the Primary School. The total area is 8.61 hectares.

The conservation area is predominantly residential but with some industrial units.

There are 4 listed buildings and 6 unlisted buildings of local interest within the conservation area. 2 of the listed buildings are Grade I listed – the Bell Tower (detached bell tower with spire. c.1300, restored 1798 and 1843) and St Mary Magdalene Church (c.1180-1190, mid C14, restored 1798, 1843 and 1860-2).
