The conservation area covers Aveland Way (slightly east of Aveland Close) and Temple Way but not including the new properties to the south. The conservation area includes fields and paddocks to the rear of the properties of these roads as well as the northern section of Sovereign Street. St James’ church sits at the centre of the conservation area. The conservation area covers a total of 13.77 hectares.
The conservation area primarily contains residential properties but also a collection of agricultural buildings to the north-east of the church.
There are eleven listed buildings within the conservation area. These include the Grade I listed St James’ Church (13th century with 19th century alterations) and Aslackby Manor House (16th century) as well as the Grade II* listed Gateway to Aslackby Manor (mid-17th century).
